I have been riding motorcycles on and off for over 35 years. As you may have read in other posts here on my site, my current ride is a Yamaha Super Tenere. I have taken some great trips with this bike, some with my wife June and some without.
Time has come to move away for motorcycling and sell my bike. I may come back, I may not. There are several reasons for me to come to this decision.
First, I just can’t take other drivers on the road anymore. People are so distracted while driving, playing with their phones, texting, posting on Facebook, etc.… I just get so stressed out while out with other cars around me, which is the opposite of what I’m supposed to be feeling. Once I get away from all other vehicles, I do still love motorcycling. It’s just getting to where there are no other people takes the enjoyment away.
Second, my wife is moving into a new career and has decided to sell her motorcycle to get more money in the bank for a financial cushion while she embarks on her new path. Just her selling her bike, would not in itself make me sell mine, but it is a deciding factor.
So, what will The Gobbler do now???
The Gobbler also has a Toyota 4Runner set up to do some pretty good off-roading. In fact, I can go places with my 4Runner that I will not go on my Tenere. I can also pack a lot more stuff. June and I love to camp and like taking our dog Maggie. Obviously, we cannot take a 65 pound dog on our motorcycles. The 4Runner can be packed to the gills and allow us to bring everything we want (even a camping toilet).
This blog will morph into more of a off-roading/overlanding/camping blog. I will keep my motorcycling stuff posted as I like to relive some of the great times I had on the bike. I do hope there will be some interest in this new turn. Living in Colorado still will lead to some awesome scenery and great trails to post about.
Stay tuned, I will be posting some of my/our new adventures in the coming weeks.
Please post a comment and let me know how you feel about this…not that it will change anything.
Here are some teaser pics to get the juices going…
